Hi all,

Very new to Arpicade and trying to install into an old cab.

I'm using Mame251 and have the following in the folder:

ssf2xj.zip
qsound_hle.zip
qsound.zip

However, the pi is booting to Arpicade menu screen, and hitting a button kicks me back to the menu.

Can anyone help with what I'm doing wrong?

Many thanks!

I'm not certain but you may also need the ssf2.zip rom I think it is the parent rom.

You didn't mention if you put it in run.sh too, you'l need to set up the booting into the game in run.sh.  There's an example in the file.

You were right!

Adding ssf2.zip to the roms folder worked! Thank you. I'm a step closer!

I'm still having a few more issues that I hope you might be able to help with...

1- The image on screen (through HDMI connected straight to the pi) is squished to a crazy long, thin horizontal aspect ratio
2- I cannot get a VGA signal from the pi2jamma
3- Arpicade still won't boot direct to game. I have updated run.sh to the following:

# If you want to auto load a game put it here. eg.
/boot/firmware/launchers/mame251.sh ssf2xj

I appreciate your help.

For VGA output make an empty file called highres.txt on the first partition.  The system  when powered up will reconfigure and shut down again, after that it is in highres mode.

Not sure why the 240p is showing weirdly on your HDMI TV, generally it should be fine *(but 240p isn't the best setting for HDMI TVs).  My loungeroom TV hates 480i but displays the 240p stuff OK...

What version of ARpiCADE are you running?  I tested booting straight to game yesterday without issue, I think I used 274.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried creating a highres.txt file before, but strangely after I boot the pi the file disappears.

I'm actually not sure what version I'm running. I downloaded it last week so it should be the most recent.

The file is suposed to dissapear once the system has reconfigured.

I've spent far less time on highres than low res with pi5, it's possible there's another issue.  I'll have a try of some things here later tonight.

highres output worked as expected for me when I tested it... whats happening when you try it exactly?  I mean after the file has disappeared and you restart is there any change to the output?  It should be in 480p at this point, if your monitor lets you know it what res is it using?

When you said VGA out of your pi2jamma I assumed you meant a RaspberryJAMMA, if you are using a different JAMMA adaptor that may well be the issue for you as ARpiCADE is setup for the RaspberryJAMMA (because I make them both).  - just checking...
