Hi

I am currently using a Pi4 with the Pi5 firmware. Most games work well,
I am having performance issues with Parodius and streets of rage 2. Would upgrading to a Pi5 help with this or should I just be using one of the other emulators?
If I should be using a different emulator is the only to do so by taking out the SD card, putting it in my computer and moving the rom into a different folder?

Will I see much benefit overall upgrading to a Pi 5?

Thanks for your patience with me whilst I keep figuring this out!

If you have those games in MAME 0.27X it's worth giving MAME 0.172 a try, it may run those 2 well.  Without actually checking I'm pretty sure both those titles are fine in current MAME on Pi5.

To move the roms the easiest way is to use your computer as you said.  However MAME versions can have differences in the roms that they are expecting so not all games will work just copying one rom to a different MAME version (best practice is to use the rom from that specific MAMEs romset).

If you only have those 2 games giving you performance issues it may not be worth while to upgrade to a Pi5 *(if they run well in 172 on the PI4).  But that assumes you have all the stuff you want already running well, if you are still adding stuff there may be something else where Pi5 has more of a difference.  Basicly, Pi5 is a really good upgrade from Pi4 but if you already had everything you like running running fine on Pi4 in the latest MAME you wouldn't really notice any change.
