howdy, folks.

I just upgraded to the release posted above.  now i'm getting a saf27n1 error on my monitor.

any ideas?

The light on the front of the little board in the back of the cabinet with the 6 or so buttons is also blinking.

High res monitor?

Not sure which release you're using as the link in the title is to this thread...  (the current version is ARpiCADE_5v2.4, a release from 2024 is likely the first ARpiCADE_5 release and not at all what you should use now...) The earliest ARpiCADE_5 releases did not support high res.  The latest ones need to be set to high res mode by creating a file called highres.txt in the boot partition.  All ARpiCADE versions are released initially set up for low res.

No idea about the monitor error message... prob low res signal into high res monitor but it's also possible the monitor is the issue if you already have the software set up properly for it.

in this case, I just wrote the image and plugged it in to see if I got a signal.

I didn't change anything yet.

Also, this is my monitor, if that helps any.

That is a high res monitor and will need to be configured as indicated by @dee2eR ...

That'll likely rectify the issue...

ok, I'm installing the latest ARPIcade.

What test do I need to include in the highres.text files?
I searched the instructions for res, and it didn't show up anything.

The file can be empty.  It just needs to be called highres.txt  - the first boot after creating it the system will reconfigure itself and shut down, after that it will be setup for high res use.

does the black VGA connector that requires a usb-A(?) to connect to a power plug on the VGA/HDMI convertor need to be plugged in?

My Pie doesn't power on when that happens, but will power on with it disconnected.

I don't want to get a new monitor if needed. just picked up a new pi 5.

The DAC will get it's power from the Pi via HDMI, no need for extra USB cables.

Probably not, but I don't know the full details of what you've done.

Do you get power LED on the Pi lighting up?  If not you may have blown the fuse.

Can you take a photo of the board hooked up?  Maybe something will stand out.

does that help?

It also started after I tripped on a cord, but everything still seems like it's working.
