Hi,

Can someone tell me how to change  the Arpicade from 15khz output to 31khz VGA output please if this is possible.
I have 2 Arpicades and one is in my arcade machine running CGA 15khz perfectly.
I just got a cocktail cabinet which has a 20inch arcade monitor running VGA 31khz only.
I plugged the vga cable from the monitor into the DAC ,but i get nothing.If there is a setting that needs to be changed please let me know how to do it.In lamens terms for the not so computer savvy.
Thanks in advance,

On the latest ARpiCADE_5 versions you just make a file called highres.txt in the first partition and on first boot up the system will reconfigure itself.  Once reconfigured it will shut down and you should be all set in high res mode.  The highres.txt file can be completely empty, it just needs to exist for the system setup and will be removed automatically once the system is in highres.

On older versions the process varies, usually setting the res in config.txt.  If you're on an older version please let us know which version you're on and I'll try to help further.

So i had a little bit of sucess,i changed hdmi_mode=1,and remove the # from highres in boot/launchers/servmenu and now i get a picture.

Only problem is that the picture only flashes on and off every 2 seconds.

What other settings  might need changing?

Thanks.

That *should* be the only change needed, not sure why your screen would blank every 2 seconds.  It may be worth trying changing it to:

hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=4

After stuffing around and getting nowhere ,i borrowed a lcd vga monitor and those settings work perfectly.

My issue is that i have a 20inch CRT monitor with vga only.The settings dont work with it.I know that it is a vga monitor as i hooked up the broken gamebox that was in the machine when i got it with the borrowed lcd vga monitor and i can see the text saying check blah blah blah etc.Windows 2000 based gamebox crappy thing that doesnt work.

So is there any settings you can think of that might change and fix my issue,

Thanks.

you could  try another of the RPi VGA modes by using:

hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=2

(or try hdmi_mode=3 it's the 16:9 version of 480p)

Solved,

Had to remove the dac. Put an oroginal pi hdmi to vga adapter in and now works fine,no sound though.Just waiting on a small amp to run the sound through the pi.

All good,thanks for your suggestions,
