Hi folks. My ultimate goal is to have this arpicade to boot directly to MK2 or MK3 depending on what cabinate I put it in. So I purchased the adaptor and a pi4 to see if it would run MK2 or MK3. It does run it well so I'm happy with the results so far!

I loaded both MK2 and MK3 to see how they run. So I haven't started trying to figure out how to make the system boot automatically to one game. I plan on only having one game in the roms file so either MK2 or MK3 will be deleted soon.

But I'm running into a frustrating issue, when I boot the system in my cabinet and choose either MK2 or MK3, it loads but the button mapping is wrong. I press P1 and it reads as P2 and and P2 is not recognized, among other issues like I press P1 and right on the joystick and it brings up the menu but can't scroll it. I can exit the game and when I come back to it and it works perfect. All the buttons are correct and everything works fine

If I launch MK2 first after booting, the button mappings are incorrect. But if I exit and go back into MK2, everything works perfectly. Then, if I launch MK3 after that, it also works fine on the first try.

However, if I boot the system and launch MK3 first, the buttons are mapped incorrectly. After exiting and relaunching MK3, the buttons are correct and MK2 also works properly on the first launch after that.

So it seems like whichever game I launch first upon booting the system the buttons are not mapped correctly upon first launch, but after exiting all the game, ever game has correct starting them back again. How do I eliminate the bug of wrong button mapping upon first launch of any game? This can be a big problem if my ultimate goal is for the system to launch directly to a game.

I did notice that when I first installed the arpicade that all 4 dip switches were on the on position. I took the adaptor out and turned on 1 and 2 and turned off 3 and 4. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I'm in the process of re-flashing the SD card right now and see if that makes a difference.

I'm Raspberry Pi illiterate so if anyone has any solutions or suggestions please explain to me like I'm 5.

IIRC there is a DIP Switch setting for 6 button layout... I am wondering if that may be the problem?

So the solution was to update to the latest version of Arpicade and that took care of the issue. Thanks to Dee2er for the help

For the record, all 4 dipswitches in the ON position will cause both players button 6 permanently stuck on.  Shouldn't cause any damage though.
