Replacing the code did a few things..

#1 I now have up and right back with my keyboard... that somehow had gone away prior.
#2 Guncon is now showing as #3 >Yay!<
#3 red dot seems a little more stable and not all over the place... unfortunately, however... there is zero tracking.  Brightness isn't doing anything... I'm simply not seeing the gun actually "move" the red dot... and when I turn on the crosshair that doesn't move either with the gun.

Is there other code in that file that is supposed to be there?

I can only guess that mine is missing because this build started with an earlier version and has been updated maybe??

Looking at the settings I had to change from P1 to P3 to change the fire... yet the movement still shows Player 1...I suspect I have to figure out how to make that Player 3... going in to it and just moving the gun around didn't do it... back to the drawing board.

;)

Yeah, give it a go.

I do wonder why you have the old version of the file though.  Hopefully I haven't missed it in a release or something...

The RCA wire may be the issue, but probably not due to the small size assuming it was enough to work as an RCA cable in the first place.  It could be worth checking your solder/crimp connection and make sure the wires arn't damaged or something.  I used a panel mount RCA socket I had lying around and a regular wire when I did my test bench.

Maybe you have other old MAME config files too?  All I had to do was set the trigger.

No clue.  I think I might try to make a dedicated shooter SDcard using a fresh install... I never intended to keep the gun on the 2P cabinet anyway...

I've just not tested anything OTHER than lightgun stuff in a week now... I sure hope I ain't broke other stuff.

If you only changed control on a per game basis and analog settings (which I think are per game too) it should be OK, I hope.

Things seem to be working still in my short testing.  One thing I noticed with the update... Maldita Castilla... in 240p mode it now plays about 25-35% too large for the screen... I can only see 4 or 5 of the options in the menu for example... but when I go back to high res mode it's back to the tall/thin screen that we saw prior to the latest update.

If you use the same folder names as me maybe try taking it out of the 240p array in the arcadepc.sh launcher.  I still haven't figured out how to run Maldita at 224 lines (which I think it was inteded for as it has slight weirdness at 240 lines), not sure how it will be at 480i... my intention was to get onto fixing 240p next...

Try the other stuff.  Tetris GM3 should load without issue, Deathsmiles 2 should now load (still glitchy backgrounds but it's fun), GigaWing3 should look good (intro video will still be black though).  You do need to set the games to run at 640x480 fullscreen in their configs, assuming you had 640x240 window before.

Will check it all out this morning.  Gotta go out and get my morning walk in (getting old sucks... and so does getting fat.  Down to 259 from 300lbs last December)...  I've made a new SDcard for the lightgun games... I should have done that to begin with.  Now I need to sort the roms and copy the lightgun games only over... should have a working card by mid afternoon or so...

Thus far... Deathsmiles 2 is working.  There is a windows top bar showing across the top... likely adjustable off-screen or simply ignorable.  :)

Daemon Bride crashes back to menu now (before it would play in a tiny window).

Chaos Breaker seems to want to work... it goes in to the game but I ended up in the settings menu where my joystick controls were SUPPOSED to work but don't... I was left powering down because even the hotkey to exit wasn't working.

Gigawing started to work but (as you mentioned) was small... tried to quickly figure out how to make it full screen but it ended up back at menu and that's where I left to go walk.  Just barely touched Gigawing... all told,  only about 5 minutes of testing thus far for it all.  ;)

You'l need to run their arcadepcconfig programs again to change to fullscreen setting.  Once that's done there won't be a windows top bar anymore.

for Demon Bride I changed which launcher it was using, you need to copy the file launcher.exe from [gamedir]/sv/Game Loader All RH/files/ to the [gamedir] also do it for Arcana Heart 3

Ah... ok... after a little testing I have full screen and it appears that I get to go in to each game and remap the controls as well.

did you change the res in the config program(s) to 640x480?, it sounds like it's still running 640x240 setting in the launcher programs.  Inputs shouldn't have changed from before but should be able to be setup again in the config programs at the same time.

I need to setup WINE to do 240p again and write some logic.  Not all the lauchers can force 240p though and the games look better with 480 lines so I started there.  Probably shouldn't have rushed this little update out but I figured while I was doing the guncon driver...  Once you have the games config it is an improvement.

shift+esc should get you out of WINE related trouble, esc is preferable as when it's setup it via the launcher config will exit the game gracefully rather than just kill WINE.

Guncon could possisbly interfere with the inputs on PC games, I didn't test that at all.  I only plug it in when I want to use it, and lately I've been very distracted by all this other ArcadePC stuff.  Figuring out how to get these games going on Pi is very trial and error...

Having a brain fart... how do I configure coin?  Hotkey it's START+P1B1 but that triggers what button?  I thought it was 1 so I used my keyboard to configure 1 but that didn't work... pressing 1 coins up (from the keyboard) but not Start + B1...

EDIT: And the answer is "5".  I think "6" works too,  but 5 does for sure.

I'll keep adding to this post as I test so as to not just keep adding responses.

THEY CAME FROM VERMINIST - Loads... full screen (never seen the game before... may be oversized)!  Looks good... no controls unfortunately.  I don't see a way to configure as even the keyboard doesn't appear to do much of anything (admittedly,  I did not try all keys).

There is no file "launcher.exe" in said folder.  There is a 'loader.exe" ... and a "loaderring.exe".

That is the same for both Arcana Heart 3 and Demon Bride.  Trying to copy loader over... seems most logical.

EDIT: moving loader.exe over seemed to be the trick.  Both games now load and look FANTASTIC.  Unfortunately,  controls are not working.  Checking out the configuration program it's a LOT more complicated and I am not seeing anywhere to remap.  There is mention of a PAD ... do I want to go in there (there is currently nothing,  not even the 1 that I know is attached to P1 start currently).

It seems the Taito games are all pretty solidly running once configured... and Gigawing looks awesome!  That game alone makes the update worthy for the vertical cabinet.

All the locomotion games have some various issues.  I can actually play Maldita in windowed mode ... it doesn't take up the full screen but it's playable...  most/all of the games suffer from the resolution issue for me and control issues for many of them.

The two fighters look fantastic but I can't figure out where to configure the controls... can play them with my keyboard though... :D

I'm still having issues with getting SSF to work again.  It worked early on...

Um... I don't have Raiden 4 ... gotta try to find it.
