Not sure when it was released but I just noticed the 16gig Pi5 is a thing...  not sure if I'll pick one up as it's over AU$200 and way overkill for what we use them for.  Curious if ARpiCADE runs on it though, sometimes new variations 'just work' and sometimes not without new bootcode and kernel.

Would probably make a good basic PC.

I think I know the answer already... but can Windows (any version) run on the Pi?   Is the a GUI that the Pi can use?  Sorry... not very "up" on linux ... so maybe  i'm asking stupid questions.

Actually, it's yes to both questions as far as I'm aware.  That said I think Windows for ARM had it's limitations etc. see: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11ARM64

There are multiple GUI options for Linux that will run on RPi4/5.  ARpiCADE_5 actually has a basic GUI OS in the Wayfire tiling WM - you can run multiple programs at once and alt+tab through them etc. but generally we don't want to... you could install Firefox or Chromium (or both) on RPi (but don't on ARpiCADE_5 there's no space...), same with photo editors, email software and other officey stuff - hell, the CAD software I use on my main box is available on RPi now (but that sounds a bit painful to be honest - my more complex CAD stuff has brought my main box (20 cores, 64gig RAM) to its knees on occasion).  No earlier version of ARpiCADE was built in the same way, 5 is a modern OS under the hood.
